JUST IN: Gunmen abduct Nasarawa LG chairman, one other

 


In a shocking turn of events, unidentified gunmen have seized the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Andaha. The abduction unfolded on Monday night at Ningo village along the Andaha-Akwanga Road, where Andaha and a local resident, Adamu Custom, were taken around 8:30 pm.

Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, revealed this unsettling news to reporters in Lafia, the state capital. According to Kassimu, the abduction occurred on January 1, 2024, emphasizing the brazen nature of the incident that unfolded in the Akwanga Local Government Area.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, when approached for comments, confirmed the distressing incident. Nansel assured that security forces, including the police and other agencies, are actively pursuing the abductors. Their concerted efforts are aimed at ensuring the safe release of the kidnapped victims.
