Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has shared that counseling has commenced for those affected by the recent explosion in Ibadan, which claimed five lives, left nearly 80 injured, and caused extensive damage to homes and vehicles, leaving numerous residents homeless.

In an update on Sunday evening, Governor Makinde mentioned that structural integrity tests on 230 buildings around the explosion site are underway, conducted by the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He also reported that over 90% of the victims admitted to hospitals have been discharged, with clinical counseling initiated for their well-being.

Expressing gratitude to security agencies and residents for maintaining law and order, Makinde noted the transition of operations at Ground Zero from search and rescue to recovery. He acknowledged support from Governor Jide Sanwoolu of Lagos State and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
