Explosion Rocks Kaduna State Community, Leaves Nine Persons Injured

In Kidandan, Giwa Council Area of Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria, a distressing incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon as nine children were reportedly injured in an explosion. This unfortunate event follows closely on the heels of a recent explosion in Ibadan, Oyo state, which claimed lives and left many seriously injured.

The Kaduna State Police Command has acknowledged the incident, with spokesperson Mansir Hassan expressing regret over the situation. Hassan explained that the children found an object in the operational area where security agencies conduct operations in the bush. In an attempt to dismantle the object, it unexpectedly exploded.

Hassan shared, “So, the young boys went to the bush and they saw an object and took it to the school. When they got to the school since they didn’t know what the object was, they decided to open it to see. So, in the process, it exploded and left about nine of them injured.”

All the injured children have been promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and the command's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has visited the scene to assess the situation and determine the nature of the explosion. The incident underscores the need for vigilance and caution, particularly in areas where security operations are active.
